Dr Carl Benedikt Frey In this project, Frey and his team developed a novel approach to measure the exposure of jobs to automation. They did so against a background of the rapidly expanding scope of tasks computer technologies can perform, following recent developments in machine learning and various sub-fields of artificial intelligence. Carl Benedikt Frey is the author of The Technology Trap (Princeton University Press, 2019) and Oxford Martin Citi Fellow at the Oxford Martin School at Oxford University, where he directs its Future of Work program. As Carl Benedikt Frey shows, the Industrial Revolution created unprecedented wealth and prosperity over the long run, but the immediate consequences of mechanization were devastating for large swaths of the population.
